The point I wished to make was that the vast majority of Labour Party members were and remain committed anti-racists deeply opposed to antisemitism[/i] Can't see this satisfying anybody. The second sentence could be seen to negate the first, depending on the construction put on 'vast majority'. Whose concerns are being spoken about? Of course, genuine concerns have to be taken seriously. But, these have to be distinguished from affected concerns; these are the ones being 'exaggerated' and 'overstated' and weaponised. Corbyn should have distinguished the two. I regret the pain this issue has caused the Jewish community and would wish to do nothing that would exacerbate or prolong it' Agree that there is no such thing as the Jewish community. This is pissing on those Jews who have stuck their necks out to support him and who have suffered as a consequence. All in all not a good look. Likely to alienate his diminishing band of - erstwhile - supporters, whilst not satisfying his enemies. He still doesn't get it, does he? |
