I'm not confusing anything. He states several times, and in lots of his other segments, how he does better "work" than 99.99% of journalists. What work do journalists do? Journalism. Just because I used the word in my final barb doesn't mean he claims to be a journalist, but he makes a lot of statements where he does this via logical equivalence, just as he does in this video. I'm sure he would never claim to be at the same level as GG, but there are a couple of times in the interview where he says something like "Nobody else covered this or did this work except us" (meaning him and GG) which again is doing it to a certain extent albeit in a backhanded way. Also his "jag off nightclub comedian who smokes pot in the morning" thing is just his get out of jail free card for whenever anyone pulls him up on his facts; he can just shrug and go ahhh I'm not a journalist, just a jag off, etc. He wants to have his cake and eat it too. I still agree with a lot of what he says (and his output does contain more truth than the msm and so he is correct to a certain extent) but there's a big streak of disingenuousness in his output. In the GG interview he said something like "I've been trying to start a third party" which is seriously exaggerating his efforts on that front, or at least as far as pushing it via his channel goes. If he was actually trying to be an organiser he would have organisers as guests, all the time, or most of the time. His content would be focussed on thrashing out a manifesto, talking about local organisations where people can go and help, talking about people that are doing the same thing. He does this once in a blue moon and the rest of the time he's pandering to the alt right/libertarians/other by framing absolutely everything as "the dems suck" because it gets the most clicks and thus pays the most. It's interesting that this was the first time GG has been on his show in ages just at the time GG needs subscribers to his new venture and JD has been increasingly called out by progressives about his "work". Probably just a coincidence though. Maybe now the Dems are in power he will spend the next four years concentrating on the opposition, like he has the last four....
