Hadn't expected to see you colluding in the dumbing down, George. And slagging off Henry Giroux.Archived Message

Have you not read Giroux before?
Mind you, I get the distinct feeling that, like the others on here) you haven't even read him this time. It's the only explanation I can find as to why you might call him a "windbag".
Are you trying to fit in, George? After years of being highly critical of the board? Has it all proved too much? Have you succumbed in old age? Reminds me of Homer Simpson telling Bart, "Bart, there is nothing in the world more important than popularity".
To join the hordes (well, Scrabb, anyway) in a criticism of academia is ludicrous. Chomsky himself is an academic. There are loads of brilliant anti-establishment academics. Many, hopefully influenced by Chomsky's long ago article "The Responsibilty of Intellectuals".
I would have imagined Chomsky was delighted with Giroux's far reaching tribute reminding us of how we need to protect and improve our education system which is under attack. Chomsky, first and foremost, has always been an educationalist.
