Strange to see one famous victim of indefinite detention in South Africa so silent on the Assange case, even though he's been asked to speak up. A senior, salaried position in an international organisation means, one supposes, that he can't empathise (drawing on memories of his own ongoing solitary cell experience) to speak out in this case. Strange to see this tool used in the UK as Assange sits with no charges pending, in indefinite detention. His warm clothes have apparently been withheld by prison authorities and he uses books to pad and insulate his window in a cold cell, where he sits in total lockdown, as over two dozen people on his block are Covid-positive.
