Hi Ian, for Australia and North America, the evidence is in the historical records for the mass slaughter and systematic starvation of the people. Wouldn't have been necessary if the plague had wiped out 9/10 of the population. That's the point (in us) after the Indian wars c 1800s they stopped bothering so much about the indigenous people, because they could ignore them. In oz the numbers pre invasion are estimated around 2m, by late 1800s after decades of slaughter dropped to around 60000.
Sp no doubt had an effect but it didn't wipe them out as effectively as all their other policies of active extermination. The Europeans did not come in peace, obviously.
