This is your simpleton line of argument. Over-65 covid fatalities are much higher than under-65s. Therefore, all over-65s must be isolated. You are sweeping up all over-65s into the vulnerable group for whom isolation could be a smart move. You are equating age with vulnerability (which is actually a rather ageist way of looking at people). The concomitant flaw in your simpleton thinking is that many vulnerable young people would not be classified as vulnerable because they are way under 65, where covid-fatality is absolutely miniscule. The correct way of counting the number of vulnerable people is to count those who are in care homes, hospitals and other care settings. And the beauty of that is that isolating them will involve minimal effort because their current situation is that they are already quite isolated from the general population. But you apparently think it's easier to isolate everyone, including millions of perfectly healthy people, rather than focusing on the vulnerable. (Glad to see you've started stroking your amusement meter again.) |
