Thanks for inquiring Tomski. I am OK but sleepy and actually fell asleep this afternoon. I also have a very sore arm which is unusual for me after a vaccination. I noticed that the needle used was quite large and visibly hollow. Perhaps the vaccine itself is gloopy and has a high viscosity. Messrs Vallance and Whitty are speaking now about the new variant which they suggest might be associated with the rise in mortality from the virus. Hospitalisations are 78% higher now than they were at the first peak. Johnson is also present at the briefing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-55763212 UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is leading a Downing Street briefing It "now appears there is some evidence that the new variant... may be associated with a higher degree of mortality," the PM says There are more than 38,000 people in hospital, 78% higher than there were at peak of the first wave, he adds There is “a turning the corner” in the number of people catching the virus but coming from an “exceptionally” high level, England’s chief medical officer Chris Whitty says A further 1,401 people have died in the UK with coronavirus within 28 days of a positive test UK R rate estimated to be between 0.8 and 1 - meaning the outbreak could now be shrinking The percentage of people testing positive decreased slightly in the week ending 16 January, the Office for National Statistics says Sir Andy Murray is to miss the Australian open after failing to find a "workable quarantine" solution as he recovers from the virus The figures show rates of positive tests fell slightly in England, levelled off in Wales and Scotland, but rose sharply in Northern Ireland
