| I'm with you Der - fwiw i've also got a friend who happens to be trans whose understanding of anarchism, marxism and the importance of class in politics dwarves mine (not too hard). Not allowing elite liberals/conservtives to use idpol to distract from the issues of capitalism to me does NOT mean throwing allies under the bus (in the hope that we can subsequently ally with other working class people who do want to throw them under a bus) - it means threading the more tricky path of standing up for these people against reactionaries while simultaneously steering the conversation away from culture war/wedge issue territory and on to real politics (a losing battle maybe). We didn;t do this bus-throwing with racism, or homosexuality (eventually) and i wont do it to my trans friends/allies. |
