Really excellent from Greenstein, thanks for posting. re: Milne and the subsequent point about his ineffectual response to the a/s b/s:

'On the question of the fake anti-Semitism campaign, Milne had little to contribute or suggest. His failure to devise a strategy and stick to it, instead of firefighting as the latest Zionist attack was mounted, is as incomprehensible now as it was at the time.'

I'll repost this old graun article Milne wrote back in 2002 which makes clear he knew exactly what game the zionists were playing with their a/s smears:

'[T]he left stands accused of anti-semitism because of its opposition to Israel's military occupation and continuing dispossession of the Palestinians. As the Palestinian intifada and Israeli repression rage on, rightwing commentators and religious leaders have claimed the left is guilty of "anti-Jewish prejudice", double standards towards Israel and even apeing the anti-semitic "blood libels" of the Middle Ages with the ferocity of its charges of Israeli massacres. [...] none of that excuses the smear that left or liberal support for Palestinian rights is somehow connected to resurgent anti-Jewish racism - an absurd slur which is itself being used as an apologia for Israel's brutal war of subjugation in the occupied territories. All the evidence is that it is the far right, the traditional fount of anti-semitic poison, which has been overwhelmingly responsible for attacks on both Muslim and Jewish targets in Europe.' - https://www.dumptheguardian.com/world/2002/may/09/comment

    Greenstein notes:

'It is inexplicable why Corbyn, who had been involved for 30+ years in Palestine solidarity work did not get it that ‘anti-Semitism’ is the first resort of the Zionists. When Zionists say ‘anti-Semite’ they mean ‘anti-Zionist’. That Corbyn and Milne did not get this is bewildering.'

Indeed, it beggars belief and it's evident that at least Milne did get it - so how did they not manage to put together a coherent riposte during all the time they had to strategise over this? I don't buy the theory that Milne was working for MI5, but Greenstein's claim of Corbyn's intellectual laziness seems close to the mark.

Otherwise, I liked this pithy summary of the fake 'crisis':

'Of course there were a few anti-Semites in a party of 600,000. There were also a few paedophiles. But no one said that Labour was overrun with paedophiles. It was a wholly contrived controversy.'

(better than my previous attempt with flat earthers and Ikeian reptile conspiracists) Also this revealing dig at Jones:

'Momentum called a massive 10,000 demonstration on Parliament Green (Jones places the demo in Trafalgar Square, thus proving that he for one wasn’t there – OJ83).'

He's right about the shame of Corbyn throwing his allies under the bus too. Can't believe the quote about Chris Williamson should 'shut his f*ing mouth' (though it comes via Jones so maybe I shouldn't believe it).

Anyway yes, lots of gems in here, thanks again!
