[*Microsoft Amazon Google Facebook Apple Netflix Twitter YouTube] Facebook has brought out its own fact-checking unit and its name also appears on the 'funders and supporters' pages of many other slick 'fact-checking' outfits that have sprung up over the last year or two, mostly addressed in Washington DC. I listened in to a webinar hosted by one of these groups: they had the best young American minds in behavioural, neuro-psychology and risk mitigation in their "How to combat Fake News" talk teams. it was striking how very young (20s and 30s?) they all were, how academic, smart, smooth - and naive, in terms of world history. Now Twitter has brought out its "BirdWatch" fact-checker, as Johnliliburn notes, so Twitter is also going to be more overtly deciding who to censor, de-platform and/or throttle via algorithms. Other 'fact checkers' are sponsored by Soros Open Foundations or by Luminate (Pierre Omidyar 'First Look Media' group).
