though abby martin's recent podcast i posted before leans towards figures in trump's lot being largely resposible for the lack of response. I heard that, and I think Brian Becker makes the same error as wsws. Let's wait and see if any heads roll - I expect none will - and if none do and the media drops it - as they pretty much already have - we'll know the Pentagon and security forces collusion had nothing to do with Trump or a coup and that this was an operation directed at the American public. And by heads I don't mean protester heads, they don't count, but some high up the chain of command. I thought the whole thing was farcical, from oh-so-easy occupation, to the selfies with police, to the Q-Shaman, to the spook-generated signage - e.g. "Nancy Pelosi is Satan" - to the provocateurs (see Blumenthal's article on John Sullivan), to a member of "the squad" claiming her panic button had been removed, etc. Farcical. And yet Becker and North are somehow 100% positive this was a genuine and serious coup attempt. I don't know where such confidence comes from...perhaps they have PTSD. |
