Brooks, yep, to Abby, who I usually like a lot, being taken in by the Bolshevik mythology. I came across an interview she did with some authoritarian communist who, of course, told her what she wanted to hear and what he wanted her and her fan club to hear. Coz she asked no challenging questions. I wouldn't say she's a Leninist or a Trotskyist just somebody who needs to read a bit more and be a bit more selective when interviewing somebody. I have that interview around some place. She would have done better to have interviewed Stephen Cohen. He was still around at the time. Regarding Capitol Hill, my original position was just to show how demos can take a particular direction without there being any actual intention or plan for them to go down that route. Having read you and Burt I see where there are other possibilities. Maybe even one where somebody might seek to exploit the unpredictability of demos. Hopefully there'll be some actual hard proof sometime. Though they would probably be cleaning house even as we talk. |
