| My brother called me on Jan 6 and asked if I knew what was happening in Washington and told me to turn on the tv. My immediate impression as soon as I looked at it as it unfolded was that there was something very fake about it - like a photo-op as you say - and that those protesters were all over the Capitol building because somebody with real power, not Trump or Biden, wanted them there. Not to do any real harm, but to provide frightening images. I did have a feeling of dread, not because I shared David North's or Brian Becker's coup-hysteria, it looked like anything but a genuine coup, but because of the implications of such a security state operation: what the intentions of the planners were and what the likely consequences would be. I still think it bodes very ill. |
