and his "reach out to the right" unity idea is him preparing the ground for an overt move rightwards as far as his content and guests go. The guests he used to get don't seem to be coming on any more and given that a large part of his (paying) audience are libertarian/alt right/assorted non-left I think he might be looking at a different roster to put on (or at least who will agree to come on) but they are the sort of guests he needs some justification for platforming. I guess time will tell but it really feels like this "unite and fight" stance is an easy get out clause for him a little bit like his "I'm just a jag-off nightclub comedian" when his lack of research is exposed. |
