Hey don't knock it guvnor nuffin' like a bit a kultya...don't take any notice of him brooks.....can't stand by all you've said, but; "Schopenhauer considered this identification of all living beings as expressions of the same underlying force to be the natural basis of all morality and ethics. The obligations that flow from that recognition necessitate engagement with the world, and should lead one to a radical political analysis, but Schopenhauer couldn't quite take that step, and perhaps focussed to much on redemption and freeing oneself from suffering" is elegant, however, to assume that radical politics necessarily flows from this conception is (imho), surely "liberal" tosh, it might, it almost certainly will at some point, but the conception/realisation will always come in historical context leading to (at least some), conservatism. I've heard the argument before and it always seems rather nihilistic to me and runs contrary to Schopenhauer's lyrical conception, it's revolutionary chic but not evolutionary.
