As you can see, we talked more than we planned. The conversation seemed constructive to me. There is an understanding of the need to overcome the unhealthy situation that has developed in relations between Moscow and Washington in previous years. There are a lot of "blockages". It is not easy to rake them out. I felt E. Blinken and his team were determined to do it. The case will not be behind us. As Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized , on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and the search for a balance of interests, we are ready to consider and resolve any issues on our bilateral agenda, and with regard to regional and global problems, conflicts, crises ...

We touched upon the topic of Russia's diplomatic "presences" in the United Statesand the United States in Russia. The "vicious circle" of strikes was started by former US President Barack Obama. When he left the White House, in fact, our diplomatic property in the United States was confiscated by raider seizures, and Russian diplomats and their families were expelled in an inappropriate, rude manner. We endured for a long time. We thought that the new Trump administration would reconsider these decisions. That did not happen. On the contrary, in 2017, the United States adopted new anti-Russian, anti-diplomatic decisions. Then they were already forced to answer. This chain reaction does not suit anyone. I felt the same feeling among American colleagues today. We will prepare proposals for our presidents on these issues and on the development of a dialogue on strategic stability - this is a key task that most states in the international community are worried about solving. This is the responsibility of Russia and the United States as the largest nuclear powers. We reaffirmed our proposal to start a dialogue, considering all factors affecting strategic stability: nuclear, non-nuclear, offensive, defensive. I have not seen a rejection of such a concept, but the experts still have to work on this.

We agreed to continue joint actions, which are developing quite successfully, on regional conflicts, where the interests of Russia and the United States coincide: the nuclear problem of the Korean Peninsula; the situation with the efforts to re-establish the JCPOA on the Iranian nuclear program ; Afghanistan , where the expanded troika of Russia, China , the United States and Pakistan is actively working . We talked about how at this stage we can make all our joint actions more effective.

I think it was a very useful conversation. We will report to our presidents. The meeting took place following a telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and J. Biden in April this year. Hopefully, they will identify further ways of common efforts to remedy the apparently unhealthy situation in bilateral relations.

Question : And did Russia give the go-ahead for the summit?

With . In . Foreign Minister Lavrov : We are not customs to "give the go-ahead."
