On this topic, it never ceases to amaze me that celebrities you might have once thought were intelligent, well-informed people are in fact totally clueless. Example: on BBC TV they are running a series of puff pieces extolling the merits of the BBC World Service. So you have actor Michael Sheen, record producer Niles Rodgers, one-time children's TV presenter Floella (sp?) Benjamin now in the Lords all banging on about how when they're travelling the globe they know they can always tune in to the World Service for reliable, unbiased news. Rodgers even blathers something about "getting the facts so I can make up my own mind". It really brings it home that many (most?) people don't inhabit the real universe at all -- they live in a fantasy bubble lacking any analytical thought, blind or indifferent to the evidence all around them, and buy in to the "BBC is wonderful" crap. Sheen is a terrific actor but you do wonder about his reasoning powers and observational skills when he spouts such garbage.
