"including the right-wing Labour politicians -- NOT the membership...including the right-wing Labour politicians -- NOT the membership" Well that was the real issue: the Labour party membership had been side-lined by the PLP using all the usual arcane rules as written by the full time apparatchiks themselves. Result was a hollowing out. the lesson was that there was no real party democracy: the real power lay in the MPs themselves under the formative influence and financial leverage of powerful lobbies. The same has recently happened with the SNP, where the membership gave the boot to Sturgeons Idpol goon-platoon only to find their decisions reversed and the crazies back in position appointed by the Leadership as "representatives" of this or that Idpol special group. |
