No, I don't think you are. I was thinking about it overnight and I assumed that the fraudian thinks most of their readers won't have heard of Mint Press News let alone read it so they are safe on the "repeating old news as a scoop" front. Then I started wondering, as you have, why they chose now to cover this (they didn't have anything to say about it five years ago, or anytime up to now as far as I have seen). I think partially it's because journalists are being targetted more often with this software and the fraudian still thinks they are included in that group; a case of "We'll tell you about it when the flames get close to our feet, not yours". It feels a little similar to their sudden concern about Assange's extradition when they realised their heads were on the block too. I also think that this tech is probably obsolete now and the Israelis are selling some new improved snooping code to the criminals that run the world so they feel safe "exposing" it. It's also possibly related to the Biden administration's recent decisions about "telling facebook who to ban" and other censorship moves. I note that it's only "authoritarian regimes" that come under the fraudian's scalpel sharp examination. Presumably the NSA and CIA were like "Pegasus? No, not for us thanks. It's a bit immoral". It could be designed to take the heat off that. Of course, it could also be them scraping the barrel to try and look like they still do anything close to journalism
