Yesterday, about 12 hours before the deadline, I submitted an appeal to the Supreme Court. It is on very narrow grounds namely it concerns the right to reputation of rehabilitated persons under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (“ROA”). The Campaign Against Antisemitism built their case that I was a 'notorious anti-Semite' and lied to the Guardian in a letter signed by 61 other people, including 3 professors, over half the signatories being themselves Jewish, albeit of the 'wrong kind' on the basis of minor previous convictions dating back 32 years. Apparently these convictions meant that I therefore that I lied to the Guardian. Pure logic would suggest that if this was true then the other 61 people were also lying (or maybe I fooled them all!) but judges tend not to rely on the laws of logic. It was also alleged that I lied in my complaint to the Charity Commission when I called for their charity registration to be withdrawn. Their allegation was that I called for them to be closed down, which itself was a lie that Judge Tipples and the Court of Appeal ignored. Best wishes Tony Greenstein |
