At the High Court earlier, the US gave the UK some assurances about his extradition. It said Mr Assange would not be placed in ADX Florence, a supermax prison in Colorado, before trial, nor would he be subject to the harshest prison conditions, known in US law as Special Administrative Measures, at any point. Both of those were on the condition that they could be imposed if, after these assurances are offered, Mr Assange did something that warranted them. So apart from the sneaky little qualifier of "before trial" and the last paragraph rendering the "at any point" from the previous one completely meaningless, how ####ing long do you think it would take them to find that "Mr Assange did something that warranted" being shipped off to Florence? I'd take the under on a month. Their "assurances" were nothing of the sodding kind but it gets reported completely non-critically. ####ing bastards. Florence is a human rights nightmare where they are basically causing prisoners to go insane through the ridiculously harsh regime. Anyone from the British judiciary connected with this Kangaroo court should be disbarred but of course they won't be. They'll be rewarded with some juicy promotion and trebles all round. Scum. |
