I’ve moved my response to you Derek, away from the right margin, since it was getting difficult to read. I am including the whole thread link as is, at the time of my post, for reference: https://members5.boardhost.com/xxxxx/thread/1628284422.html The only thing I can see from this thread of you asking questions of me was asking for examples of attitudes which are kind of self evident from the thread itself and responses to it. Self-evident. Hardly. Consider what you said: Caring about general left principles shouldn't stop simply because we are concerned about our own health. Not sure who you are referring to here. I am, for example, commenting precisely because of my left principles. Concerns about my own health per se does not come into it except peripherally as in concern for my family, local community etc. It's been an interesting time for that from my perspective, because the left has fully morphed into a faction of the right on issues like human rights, free speech, welfare of the poor etc. Zero compassion for poor people that blame covid measures on their worsening situation and health, because its perceived as denial of covid. This is problematic set of statements since you could not be possibly referring to TLN collectively or myself personally since we have disparate views, and I wouldn’t like my left views to be conflated with Willem’s (which are not left), as you surmised. Hence my comment asking for a reference. I absolutely agree with Ken on this issue, Willem’s left views are a veneer, learned by rota to fit in and advance certain agendas. If you consider yourself part of a mob then yes, slither away. You’ll forgive me for some sarcasm here and there. The term mob is problematic and if not defined it is meaningless, like waving one’s hands. They're never pretty to be a part of. If not, then maybe take content as it comes rather than an opportunity to twist a knife that really doesnt need twisting. I am lost here, knife twisting etc. but never mind. Content posted by scrabb derailed by yourself, I think, in an effort to not be put into same category as Willem, with whom you disagree. Nope, derailing was by Willem. He said: ‘Those on the so-called left should really be far more sceptical of the ruling elites lockdowns and vaccines’. Since I am ‘Willem-watcher’ so to speak, that statement is jam-packed with dishonesty since he has always been anti-lockdown. Ask Dan, he remembers and has commented on it, way back at the start of the pandemic and termed it ‘freedom to shop’. Willem’s solution and I must emphasise this, it is very important is Barrington Declaration solution, as sold by Koch bros i.e. lock-up the vulnerable and elderly and somehow hermetically seal them from the rest of the society. If you don’t believe me check out his past posts. Any leftie worth his salt would find pushing this right-wing agenda very distasteful and dangerous. In addition, in terms of public health this is logistically unachievable. He also confuses the scientific response with ruling elite response. Ruling elite doesn’t give a flying #### about bodies piling up. As for vaccines. Don’t recall him as an anti-vaxxer, but he has posted a number of provocative posts on the subject. We all know that we have problems with these and generally speaking the benefits outweigh in the cost/benefit analysis. I won’t bother going into Big Pharma selling us experimental vaccines without us having a recourse to suing them etc. or disaster capitalism making us part with our hard-earned dosh through the financial system or directly. That *is* self-evident. Have more courage, if you believe the content to be problematic (that scrabb posted), say why. Leave personal disagreements and differences of opinions with others out of it. It makes for more enlightening debate at the very least. Thanks for advice. I’ve unpacked few bits regarding my response to Willem’s derailing of the thread for your benefit since you haven’t clocked it. You are welcome to conduct your debates in a manner that you find suitable for your temperament. To have a debate you need to be aware of the background and the forces that drive it, like personal agendas. Otherwise, it will be invariably sterile if there is no understanding of these. Just by the by, now I feel at liberty to tell my unvarnished view of Willem’s machinations since he has starting to smear and be generally unpleasant. Before, he has been quite polite. I think this has been the reason why I have held back (from memory) from directly criticising him in a forceful fashion. Hence you never got to know my views when both margo and your good self were criticising my ‘Willem’ posts in the past. In addition, a very important aspect is that Willem’s posts are exclusively on the subject of corona virus. I recall once a number of years ago when he posted something different – it was on blatant antisemitic remark by Zevolution character which we both agreed on. That’s it. By contrast it is on the record that I post on many subjects the bulk of it on geopolitics from a left perspective. Secondly, you may find that some of the recent posts by Willem are almost verbatim OffG derived – check out his recent posts re transfer of elderly from hospitals to care homes. I dipped my toes into the OffG yesterday, holding my nose (in general they are in denial that pandemic is happening at all (see Catte’s recent article if you dare) – completely out of their trees). A similar transformation that happened with GlobalResearch and Column One. Although admittedly the OffG article on the ‘transfer’ was reasonable with some factual evidence (taking away the bias here and there).
