I saw the whole thing as an elaborate piss-take on Norm's behalf -- claiming he was best mates with Bill Cosby and that Bush had nothing to answer for. He also got the dig in about Bill Clinton in a nest of right-on Democratic nuts. Though I agree I can't see what help he'd be on QT. Winding everyone up by saying Johnson was a fine moral example of domestic probity perhaps? Or that Blair wasn't to be blamed for the mistakes in Iraq -- he was only doing his best?
