| David Amess was not killed by nasty tweets or online abuse or members of the public shouting and swearing at him. He wasn't killed by Angela Rayner's rhetoric. Instead, from what we know so far, he was stabbed 17 times by a young Brit of Somali heritage in the grip of a radical and violent Islamist ideology in a clearly premeditated attack. No-one, it seems, really wants to think about how men like the alleged attacker, Mr Ali Harber Ali, arrive at the views they hold, how many folk who think like this young man are there in the UK and how might they be prevented from harming others. Much easier to pretend it's all about rude name-calling on social media. |
