Agree on his respect for Mother Earth, Greendale is maybe my favourite album of his, super simple but great concept and I always blub like a baby at multiple points throughout (his harmonica playing always gets me somehow).
Maybe I should follow the advice I once heard given by Eddie Vedder (another hero who 'let me down' over his cringeworthy bromance with Obama) and actively avoid finding about the lives and opinions of artists, as it always takes away from pure enjoyment of their work.
But then things like this tell you so much about who somebody really is, it's hard to ignore. Or forgive, frankly, as absurd as that might sound.
Won't be throwing away my NY CDs and records just yet all the same... Picked up an original LP of On The Beach (UK issue, I guess) in decent condition back in the day when I was working in a 2nd hand record shop. Should probably play it one of these days (got the CD, another fave).
