I wanted to know why. I listened to the health secretary's speil on the PM programme and waited for the questions from the press pack, but the BBC didn't cover that bit, Evan Davies merely repeated what we's already been told. I also watched the teatime BBC TV news coverage with Hew Edwards of the announcement, but again this vital and obvious question was not raised -- "Why have the UK's cases spiked so sharply and yet the rest of Europe has flatlined?" You'd almost think that the BBC were afraid to ask the question. And in her summing-up the fragrant Kuenssberg never went near it. And these people regard themselves as serious and credible journalists doing a professional job on quarter of a million smackers per year. Despair.
