Open admission by both sides here that schools exist to propagandise and engineer the attitudes and beliefs of the young. Are educational institutions ever going to help kids develop the intellectual & practical tools they need to disarm and dismantle the system, learning from the history of people who have done this in the past and practicing the skills (civil disobedience, critical thinking, strike action, sabotage etc...) needed to directly engage in the struggle against the capitalist oligarchy? The question is absurd. Educational institutions serve the same oligarchy, are an integral part of the same matrix of oppression. Any rogue teacher engaging in this kind of genuine ... solidarity work with kids will be a) sacked for not strictly adhering to the curriculum they're supposed to march classes through and/or b) disciplined by the school or parents, smeared in the press or referred to Prevent for 'radicalising' the children. Apart from this I find it quite funny to consider that kids might need a teacher to tell them about issues relating to race and privilege. Have these people not heard of the internet or social media? Anybody wanting to find out about or discuss this stuff isn't exactly limited these days! Besides of course they already know about it in their own lives (except for the privileged ones arguably), and don't need a government operative to tell them what they already know, or more likely to try to re-program their beliefs to something less threatening to the status quo. cheers, I |
