Some disturbing comments in this thread... When did violence against your political opponents ever work out well? Here are Chomsky's comments in full (Blumenthal clip from 8:30): He's clearly referring to those refusing vaccination, making it sound like it's 'communities protecting themselves' rather than the government covering its arse (for being unable to control the pandemic any other way) and big pharma protecting its profits. And those who refuse should be denied access to even basic necessities like FOOD. 'That's actually their problem' says Chomsky. It's pure authoritarian statism if you ask me. 'They should have the decency to remove themselves from the community. If they refuse to do that then measures have to be taken to safeguard the community from them', sends a chill down my spine... Where exactly are they supposed to 'remove themselves' to, Noam? He's really saying they should go away and die, and if they have the temerity to try and live normal lives then ... 'measures' must be taken. Jesus Christ, does he even hear himself? Really shocking, especially when you consider that it's not 'just' trump-voting rednecks who oppose the vaccines but black people and ethnic minority groups with even more good reason to distrust government and public health measures. Oh, and these comments from the 'rational national', as he tries to hide his obvious amusement, could go on the Left's tombstone: 'No harm done. What do you expect is going to happen? There's a mandate going on. Just follow the rules.' Wow, just the hint of death on the horizon and all the 'anti-establishment' lefties go full-on Good German, cheering on the abolishing of basic human rights and every new repressive measure brought in by the rulers to crack down on everyone who refuses to go along with their schemes. Even vigilante justice against those who fight back! Doesn't bode well for when climate change, peak oil and the extinction crises really start to bite... I |
