Indeed. It's all a terrifying advance warning of what we will endure as climate breakdown seriously begins to bite: our neoliberalised elites will use whatever starts to happen as something that can be (i) shaped to advance secret Malthusian political agendas; (ii) exploited as a means of stealing a march over competitor nations; and (iii) used as an excuse for the further looting of the public purse. It's going to be sheer hell -- for as long as we survive, which won't be long. M. |
