Just as a test, I've now counted the mask-wearing people passing in and out at my local large Tesco as I chatted, in my usual Saturday fashion, with the security guy. Of the first 30 people who passed me, with the recorded message about masks echoing round the space, 27 clearly couldn't be arsed. Perhaps they think it's all over -- along with the security guard, as he wasn't wearing one either. Or perhaps, in terms of my 'hysterical nonsense', above, since they must all know it's killing well over 1,000 people a week, they must reckon it's killing the right people. The people who don't matter. Don't expect a viscerally fascist population to behave as something better than it is. M. |
