Two stories that relate to the "Terror Factory" (i.e. FBI manufacturing terror attacks) but now their target is shifting from dodgy a-rabs and eye-rakis to the neo-nazis...but not in all case apparently. FBI agents arrested former Canadian armed forces reservist Patrik Jordan Mathews, US army veteran Brian Mark Lemley Jr and a third member of a group called The Base four days before a pro-gun rally in Virginia in January last year. Surveillance equipment installed in their Delaware apartment captured Mathews and Lemley discussing an attack at the rally at Virginia’s capitol in Richmond. The judge who sentenced Mathews and Lemley to prison concluded that they intended to engage in terrorist activity. US district judge Theodore Chuang’s decision to apply a “terrorism enhancement” to their sentences significantly increased their recommended prison terms under federal guidelines. Chuang said recorded conversations between Mathews and Lemley captured the “virulence” and “passion“ in their willingness to kill people and bring down the US government. Mathews and Lemley pleaded guilty in June to gun charges in Maryland. They were not charged with any violent crimes, but prosecutors called them domestic terrorists. The closed-circuit television camera and microphone in their apartment also captured Mathews and Lemley talk about breaking racist mass killer Dylann Roof out of prison where he is on death row, assassinating a Virginia lawmaker, destroying rail lines and power lines, derailing trains and poisoning water supplies, prosecutors said. Mathews fled Canada after the Winnipeg Free Press published an article by an undercover reporter who met him under the guise of joining The Base. After crossing the border into the US, Mathews lived at a Georgia property where group members held military-style training camps. “He was intent on violence. He was intent on murder,” said assistant US attorney Thomas Windom. Defense attorneys said the men never developed any specific plans for violence. And they argued that an undercover FBI agent who visited the Delaware apartment tried to pressure the two “damaged military veterans” into developing a plan for violence at the Virginia rally. The Base and another white supremacist group called Atomwaffen Division have been leading proponents of “accelerationism”, a fringe philosophy that advocates using mass violence to hasten society’s collapse. A string of arrests dealt crippling blows to both groups. The third co-defendant, William Garfield Bilbrough IV, was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty in December to helping Mathews illegally enter the US from Canada in 2019. The only mention of the FBI undercover is in a "The Defence claims.." type paragraph. Where did all that surveillance equipment come from? Who else was involved in those conversations? If you've read "The Terror Factory", this is absolutely standard operating procedure and they are definitely telling about 10% of the story...again. Among information that came officials’ way in the weeks before what turned into a riot as lawmakers met to certify the results of the presidential election was a 20 December tip to the FBI that supporters of Donald Trump were discussing online how to sneak guns into Washington to “overrun” police and arrest members of Congress, according to internal bureau documents obtained by the Post. The tip included details showing those planning violence believed they had orders from the president, used code words such as “pickaxe” to describe guns, and posted the times and locations of four spots around the country for caravans to meet the day before the joint session. On one site, a poster specifically mentioned Mitt Romney, a Republican senator from Utah, as a target, the Post said. Romney was later one of seven Senate Republicans who voted to convict Trump on one charge of inciting an insurrection, leveled by the House of Representatives during a second impeachment of the former president. An FBI official who assessed the tip noted that its criminal division received a “significant number” of alerts about threats to Congress and other government officials. The FBI passed the information to law enforcement agencies in Washington but did not pursue the matter, the Post said. “The individual or group identified during the assessment does not warrant further FBI investigation at this time,” the internal report concluded, according to the Post. That detail was among dozens included in the report, which the newspaper said was based on interviews with more than 230 people and thousands of pages of court documents and internal law enforcement reports, along with hundreds of videos, photographs and audio recordings. A special congressional committee is investigating events which exploded into violence after a rally Trump held near the White House to rail against the results of the election, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. Four people died on 6 January, one shot by police and the others of natural causes. More than 100 police officers were injured, one dying the next day. Four officers have since taken their own lives. More than 600 people have been charged with taking part in the violence. FBI failed to act on "tips"? No mention of all the FBI informants involved in the various groups that were organising this?
