My sister and her partner work in the NHS in quite an out of the way place (s Wales) and have treated many people who went on to die of covid - noticeably many more than would be the case for eg flu in the same period, and with specific covid symptoms. Not all old people either - they had someone who was 39 die a couple of weeks back (unvaccinated). Ask anyone who works in the NHS, I guess they'll say similar anecdotes. And it was covid they died from - they're not idiots. The number directly caused by covid in the uk is available on the ONS website (I think it's about 80-90 % the headline ONS figure) - the rest died 'with' covid - not sure why they show them this way, but either way, it's not enough to deny covid as a direct cause for at least 80% of that number (unless you want to argue with the standard way death certificates are written, or with all the doctors that certified them) - I've repeated this stuff here many times now. We all know the vaccine isn't a sterilising vaccine and you could still catch it and pass it on, but the likelihood of transmission/hospitalisation/death is much reduced according to the studies I've seen - this is also shown by the proportions of people who are ending up in hospital with covid currently according to my sister - most have no vaccination at all, a handful have had one and only one they've seen in recent months had both. As I've said here before I have seen vaccine injury (my mum had a bad reaction to the AZ vaccine), so I'm prepared to accept there's under-reporting - but it would need to be huge numbers to start matching the proportions of deaths from covid, as recorded by the ONS - big enough that these deaths would also be able to be pointed at in the statistics I would have thought. |
