    My own take is that a network is recruited informally within any corporate media organisation. The recruitment is not explicit but will involve producing false testimony of some sort, on demand from a higher ranking colleague. A discreet but humiliating process which gives the recruiter a long-term hold on the recruit.

    The recruit will then over-perform careerwise in the organisation, those who are not 'made-men' will under-perform.

    Despite being informal, the arrangement is clear enough that most workers in the organisation could produce a fairly accurate sketch of the network while also understanding that it cannot be acknowledged.

    The result of this model would be something like a covert Royal Signals corp nestled within the organisation with intel buzzing up and down the chain of command under tight control. The members of the network would be like soldiers, ie mostly reliable.

    Whether they choose to accept what their job is, is a similar dilemma to a royal signaller choosing to accept that he is invading countries for the dollar cartel. The network will contain some who are self-knowing, mainly at the top, and others who are in denial.

    If Human Rights Watch set up a newspaper called 'Voice of Ukraine' in Kiev we wouldn't be talking about the five filters very much I suspect.

    Alas my model is too short for a lucrative book deal. Perhaps I could have a napkin deal and distribute them at the canteen in Fraud towers.
