    I listened to the interview. Actually I quite like Kim Hill's Saturday programme, she does a good number of very interesting interviews, such as the one we're talking about, and the programme is worth listening to, especially if you compare it to the dross mostly served up. As to her own views and personality, she's a curates egg, good in parts, and problematic in others. Her attitude to Assange is unfortunately one she shares with so many in the media, that of ignorant and callous disdain. I wrote this email to here, which she did read out in full, except the last line, I wonder why. She often reads out critical emails, though sometimes perhaps to publicly scorn .

    Dear Kim,

    You’re suggesting Julian Assange should willingly go to the US to face the authorities there and test the Espionage Act. You are joking?????? What is it about Julian that seems to get under the skin of so many in the media; I hope you’re not one of them, but I’m sure I did detect some distaste in your questioning. He has a rational fear for his life if he goes there. Politicians there have called for his assassination, you’ve just been told there was a CIA plan to assassinate him in the Ecuadorian embassy, and even if he survives, he will be incarcerated in some horrible place until he dies. Why should anyone wish for silent martyrdom when their profoundest wish is to continue a vocal truth? The UN has twice called him a political prisoner, who should be released and compensated for his mistreatment. But it’s not just the US, it’s the craven complicity of the UK, Australia and Sweden that should also be your concern. Julian now, other journalists, perhaps including one well known New Zealander, next?

    I could have added that the other obvious concern is if Julian decides not to commit suicide during his incarceration, it could pretty easily be arranged for him, in Jeffrey Epstein manner, perhaps.
