Distinguishing between overpopulation (a fundamental cause of this crisis) and population growth may be instructive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malthusianism As the climate fails faster than expected, so may population growth. Population will, of course, still be far too high to validate the fundamental role of reproduction - survival of the species. (The actual role is evolution of the species - those days being long gone for humans though I guess we can hope). Just a thought.
