Quite - just like they don't want a secular regime with a touch of socialism who'd nationalise their own resources out of our hands - once we got past Nasser anyway (helped along by our encouraging undemocratic islamist-type elements as shown in Mark Curtis' book). And when 'wanting democracy' effectively means capitulation to western finance rackets and neo-imperial hegemony, it would be difficult to blame any refuseniks anyway (western democracy? it would be a good idea) |
