It might be down to confirmation bias, with those particular passages jumping out so much that he failed to read the rest of it, but that seems like a stretch. Don't know if he has writers or if it was just a tweet quote he picked up elsewhere, but either way it's minimal journalistic practice to investigate the source directly. He had a vid recently mocking an Intercept journalist for doing exactly that, running with a false interpretation of a story without checking with the source who would have corrected it immediately. Though they actually are presenting themselves as journalists, not 'jagoff comedians' (yes, it wears thin, and could be another layer of deniability - though he remains more honest & principled than most calling themselves journalists IMO). Anyway, it would be good of him to make a retraction, unless there's a defense that I've missed.
