Chuck me some links - i'm always open for more info. The people who die in hospital 'of covid' (as describe by ONS) are i believe people who are obviously ill with covid, which has quite noticeable effects (dan could chip in on this if i'm mistaken) - the doctor says they died of covid because they did, not just because there was a test. Maybe the smaller proprotion in the ONS figures who died 'with covid' means people who were ill from other things but also had a positive test. The first group (the bulk of the figures i believe) can't be written off as a bad test - you'd have to postulate a disease with the same symptoms (eg the particular pattern of how it affects the lungs as shown in scans) - again, dan could correct me on this.
