I'm disappointed but not surprised. The RNZ board is stuffed full of National Party appointees, and their influence can be perceived in the timidity and vapidity of commentators in the last few years. Six months ago one on those commentators, Chris Gallavin, wandered off the reservation but was quickly reined in by the producer Robert Kelly.... ALI JONES: Here's the heading from CNN: "Tony Blair has a mullet now and it's disturbing Britain". WALLACE CHAPMAN: There you go! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! CHRIS GALLAVIN: So they didn't get him on crimes against humanity for Iraq--- WALLACE CHAPMAN: Ha ha! ROBERT KELLY: Hrrrmmmm. So people are staying away from the word itself, but are asking for something like it, and one of the hairdressers said that, um, people are coming in and asking for a cross between a nineties shag and the harder eighties mullet. Which I have to admit is a nomenclature that escapes me.
