Well, the US system isn't really a public healthcare system. That had no chance of developing after Whitaker and Baxter defeated Truman's healthcare plan in 1949. The same Whitaker and Baxter had also stiffed Upton Sinclair from being elected Governor of California in 1934 too; in both campaigns using or inventing near all the media political dirty tricks that we know so well today...but which the public unfortunately still don't know nearly well enough. UK Health provision has its shortcomings: such as shame that the Tory vision for the NHS is to be a big fat rentier milch cow that they can restyle to enrich themselves after that US model.
