Yes, making the nazis some singular 'warning from history' we avoid how it should really be a warning from within our collective European/colonial history and politics - and that the roots of this didn't really go anywhere (eg we were still doing full on nazi shit in eg Malaysia/kenya right after the war (partly under labour even)). Similar to how when you point out fascistic tendencies in western governments right wing people protest that it can't be fascism because it doesn't have x like the nazis (x=toothbrush moustache, swastikas, gas camps etc - no true fascist or something) |
