    I'm not aware of them ever being discredited (although I remember something about the follow-up episode which tried to trace the person who supplied one of the guns or something having some innacuracies exposed, which TPTB then tried to use to rubbish everything) but they were studiously ignored by the MSM and then after a decent interval, when most people had forgotten about it, they started to call the content "fringe theories" or similar.

    I noticed this story coming back a day or so ago and just assumed they needed to smear someone or tag someone as being involved in this. The wiki entry is typically dishonest; the person who demolished the government's ballistics evidence was the chief medical officer for the British Army in Northern Ireland, not some schmuck. I might have his title slightly wrong but he was a massively well respected forensic pathologist who was more experienced at examining gunshot wounds that pretty much anyone else in the UK at that time.

    The rest of the Dispatches evidence is equally persuasive and it's the kind of thing that would NEVER get made today; a sad reminder of how low journalism has fallen.
