I've now watched the second video (Matt Binder) and I have to say it's pretty terrible and not as reasonable as other solo videos of his that I'd seen before. I also have to say I don't trust Matt Orfalea at all and he is clearly not the progressive he original posed as when he started commentating on YouTube. Having said that, this video is about 8% reasonable critique and 92% bullshit. I forgot how pompous he (Binder) is but in this clip I also realised how dishonest he is. He always comes across as if he's the ultimate arbiter of what is and isn't true as if he's some ####ing news buddha, floating over the top of everyone else. There were a few places where Dore and Orfalea were clearly exagerating certain framing points and he caught them but then there's the time he played the same clip twice and claimed Jimmy was "going back to this anti-vaxxer". Oh yes, he looked up the twitter account that Dore quoted and scanned their timeline and instantly procalimed they were an anti-vaxer and a right winger, which presumably invalidated anything they had to say. Very reasoned critique.... Then there's all the times he skips over other people (Caitlin Jonstone, et. al) becasuse "I don't need to hear this", or "I'm not interested in YouTube" bullshit. Then there's the bit where he skips over the segment about how The Young ####s misrepresented the case (after bitching earlier in the video about "show me where the msm misrepresented the case"), again because "I don't care about YouTube shit" and "they apoogised".The liberal media has definitely repeated the "he crossed state lines with a firearm" and I've seen that in a ton of segments that have been clipped. Binder either doesn't know about them or chose to ignore them. I loved the part where he started slagging them (JD and MO) off for not knowing that the heresay statement of the friend of the surviving shooting victim at the hospital had been retracted and then he restarts the video and MO tells JD exactly that and Binder just sits there looking like "####, what do I say now? God damn it.". All in all a pretty disappointing hit piece (although it raged me through 20k on the rowing machine ) and maybe the pieces I saw of his before were just him having a very good day. At the same time I don't trust Orfalea at all and rate JD significantly less than I once did. The next week or so will see all the youtubers filling their boots and getting their clicks on this case, so there will be commentary aplenty. The biggest problem with this case is separating the legal and the moral. Legally I don't think the prosecution ever had a chance of getting a murder case over the line; the self-defence defence was too easy to counter them. However the verdict now seems to normalise armed people taking it upon themselves to police demonstrations and in the armed madhouse that is the USA, that is sure to end very badly.
