While it has to be said that if every judge was this critical of the prosecution in every trial the US system would improve immeasurably, this judge has a major reputation for being pro-prosecutor but in this case was clearly against them and the obvious question is why? Also note that he had two (or maybe three) motions for mistrial under consideration. None of them were particularly complex and they are usually ruled on fairly rapidly and almost always before the jury goes out. I think he was keeping those behind just in case the jury went rogue and came back guilty and then he could magic a mistrial. That would have caused a shit storm but it would have been the hail mary move. I have a feeling Rittenhouse will pop up like a bad penny in the next few years like Zimmerman from the Trayvon Martin case although it seems Rittenhouse is going to be adopted, at least temporarily, as a mascot by Fox et. al. so he might be kept busy with media engagements. I see ####er Carlson has him on his white power hour on Monday.
