As vaguely remembered below, I do remember something implicating the CIA (or army or someone); maybe even talk of them taking over a bakery to put the stuff in (sorry for the memory issues - I should write these things down). It might be in the wormwood doc I linked below (or it was another on Netflix). This of course might be the stuff that was debunked by ergot. Psychonaut-pedant's corner: Ergot contains Lysergic acid - LSD is lysergic acid diethyl amide (LAD in English (LSD is German)). Lysergic acid does have some hallucinatory effects (as seen in eg Salem and the rest (and maybe the one above)), but it's nowhere near as powerful in that regard as LSD, and has much more physical side effects (eg heavy vasoconstriction)
