Albania £12/night: "Communist-style apartment to rent". Albania - a socialist, pro-NATO enigma, alt-Cuba? Thoughts?
(Link below to cheap but cheerful Commie apartment(sleeps 6) near Adriatic...)
One of Europe's poorest most corrupt countries. And most Islamic.
Free universal heathcare and education. Proportional Representation - not retarded FPTP.
With its Adriatic and Mediterranean coastlines, natural beauty, bounty and climate it's hard to comprehend why - economically and entrepreneurally - it's still everything California isn't.
As for NATO - as in Spain - just because an ostensibly "socialist" government kowtows to the US-NATO war machine doesn't mean the salt-of-the-earth p!ss-poor masses do.
Any Albania Aficionados out there? Anyone know Albania, visited the country, got a handle on the enigma ?
Could it rival Cuba as a less distant nostalgic socialist-communist tourist destination for those of us who'd like to visit Cuba but don't want to fly 4000+ miles westwards towards the USA via the North Atlantic to get there ? And Albania also has no Guantanamo Bay / Gitmo repellant-factor.
And here's that ad for the "communist-style" £12/night apartment in Tirana - near Adriatic(no car needed - public transport is dirt-cheap in Albania - about £12 for a monthly pass):
