My thing is this as long as there's a space where I can not participate in any of these things should I chose not to then I see no reason to trample down others beliefs etc. - I usually avoid places where people think it's okay to impose their beliefs on others. This being a case in point. Normally, if somebody just posts a link to The Saker I don't go there. I'd have missed this Z nonsense if Keith had confined himself to doing that. Unfortunately, he posted all the text. Of course there's at least 2 things to consider here as provisos Firstly, that their beliefs don't seek to shut down that space I can inhabit( sic) economically , "spiritually", philosophically etc - Yep. And secondly, and more difficultly (nuance required) that whilst pursuing their own beliefs ( whether received or self imagined) they aren't seriously damaging themselves. Tricky that one. - "damaging themselves" or others. Manifested in its most heinous form with circumcision or female genital mutilation. Or even grabbing vulnerable children and dragging them to church and filling their heads with superstitious nonsense and threats of burning in the flames of hell. Outrageous. People putting their religious beliefs ahead of their children's well-being. Child abuse, basically. My enemy's enemy may be my friend, my enemy or indeed neutral. And that same enemy's enemy may shift category according to circumstance or issue. So even a reprehensible imho belief set can be a fellow traveller versus say nuclear or biological war or genocide or crimes against humanity or global wealth extraction and control of others destiny/ space. - I'll stand beside anybody in fighting for a common cause. But I reserve the right to practise some substantial social distancing if they feel the need to start spouting their nonsense. - Beliefs should not be respected. If considered faulty they should be challenged. Though ridiculing them is probably not going to change them and may well reinforce them.
