First, the structural principles are not the same for all types of bridges. From that perspective Ken is correct in what he says, although there is more to it. Secondly, the other smaller bridge, looks quite dinky and I am not sure which type it is. Not enough info on the photo. Antonovsky bridge design is a box girder type and you may note that the holes in the concrete are both on the road (horizontal) surface *and* on the horizontal surface of the lower concrete slab (one can just see this through the hole in the upper slab). Both of these slabs would need to be repaired. Not easy. The box system relies on all four elements acting together i.e. horizontal + vertical. This bridge design principle has been used for the last 200 odd years, at first using steel elements. I suspect it just may be possible to do a 'cowboy repair job', with lowering factors of safety in terms of design to get the tanks through but it won't be done in an afternoon . From my perspective, provision of the pontoon bridge next to it is the smart thing to do by RF. They can repair the above bridge at their leisure, after fighting is over.
