This is a different moral issue Archived Message

I'm sorry to hear about your brother-in-law's illness but I think his actions and those of his doctor raise a different moral issue than the one posed by Archie Summersbee death. The extent to which a younger, healthier self can determine the fate of the older, sicker self is, I think, morally complex. What happens if what seems unendurable to the younger me is actually not as bad as anticipated? What if I find life still has meaning and purpose? Can I rescind any 'contract' the younger me signed?
