I didn't get the impression he was driving towards an interpretation that it was all down to the vax, but you're right he could/should have mentioned the possibility of long covid or other knock-on effects of the disease leading to the excess death rate. I'd be interested to hear the results of further research into this topic, as it is striking especially considering the concluding point Campbell quotes from the ONS that we should be getting lower excess deaths because of those who died prematurely from covid over the last 2 years. There must be a lot of misery and poverty out there as well as ill health, is my interpretation.
